Library News

August 18, 2012 United Way of Ashtabula County along with the public libraries of Ashtabula began a new program to provide free books for children birth through age five.  This program is in collaboration with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and registered children will receive a free book every month.  The books are sent to the children at home through the post office.  Children who sign up at birth will receive 60 free books by age five.

As we kick off the fall Story Hours for children and students, GVPL is proud to announce that computer classes will be offered for adults.  Watch the website for coming details.

Watch the website for details on the fall story hours for children and students.  You will be able to register online or at the library in person.

We are excited about the Connect Ohio grant to support the Every Citizen Online program.  This grant will provide laptop computers at GVPL to be used to provide free basic computer classes.  The classes are Introduction to Computers, Introduction to the Internet, and Introduction to E-mail.   Classes will be offered late in the day to accommodate work schedules and should be starting up near the end of September.  Check the web page for updates and how to register.

October 9, 2012 author Patrick Hartory, national speaker and author, will be discussing his new book, Your Ageless Mind.  Join us at 6:00 pm as he presents a free brain fitness program, followed by your questions and a book signing.  Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library.

The week of October 7, 2012 through October 13, 2012 is Library Snap Shot Day.  Don’t be surprised if someone asks to take your photo for our use in publications promoting Library Snap Shot Day.
